Love this site..brings back many memories. I was born in Methodist Hospital in 1942, and raised in Oak Cliff. Actually lived on Oak Cliff Blvd until I was eight. My mother would call the grocer on the corner of Clarendon and Oak Cliff Blvd, and then send me down the block to pick up her order. He would come out and walk me across Clarendon. I loved to go in the vegetable section, which was the air conditioned part of the store. After he walked me back across the street, up the block I'd go to where my mother would be waiting on the porch. Idyllic time for a childhood in those days. . Shirley
