Jay Reeg, lived in Oak Cliff from 1956 to 1968. The Music Hall at the Kiest/Hampton shopping center (next to L&S, across from A&P) was a great place to get the latest music. LPs like Freak Out and The Velvet Underground and Nico were available in Oak Cliff, and I still fondly recall how rock and roll changed my life. Saw rock groups play in Kiest Park in '65 and '66. Jimmie Vaughn went to Browne for all of two weeks before his long hair got him kicked out.... Westcliff Mall was another ode to the outside world and was a great meeting place after school where I went to Carpenter, then Browne but moved before starting at Kimball. Every year, I drove by Oak Cliff and still remeber the good times, even 40 yrs later. Anyone have any pictures of The Music Hall or Westcliff Mall?
